Beginner Ballet Class: Tips for Older Students

Students of every age and experience level can enjoy learning something new— a beginner ballet class is a perfect place to start! You’ll learn movements that will enhance your overall health and wellbeing, all while educating yourself on a new skill.

Here are some tips for older students:

It’s Never Too Late to Start

Whether you’ve danced before or are completely out of your realm, beginner dance classes are meant for those with little to no prior experience— that means you’re starting exactly where everyone else is! It’s never too late to learn the art of any dance, including ballet. Our non-competitive dance studio will welcome new learners with open arms and make sure they’re comfortable at the pace and level we’re instructing.

Pay Close Attention to Feedback

We intentionally keep our classes small so that our teachers have the time to offer personalized instruction. As a new dancer, it’s important to absorb feedback and use it to propel your learning. Our instructors are encouraging and diligent, which means we’re here to uplift with our teachings, not demean or pick on students— you’ll never feel that way in a beginner ballet class at Academy 831

Dance Requires Determination

Every style of dance, especially ballet, requires a determined mindset and constant repetition. It might feel discouraging not to understand everything right away, but we guarantee if you pay close attention in class, focus on the movements and want to learn, you’ll get it. Nothing is more satisfying than finally understanding a combination or movement by heart, but nobody is going to get there on the first try!
